Sweet and Sour Sauce with Vegetables Restaurant Style

This Chinese sweet and sour sauce tastes just like the one you get in a Chinese restaurant. The sauce with stir fried vegetables and tofu served over noodles is an easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup rice vinegar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1/8 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- ¼ teaspoon pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon corn starch
- 2 tablespoon water
- 1 14oz can pineapple chunks in unsweetened juice (drain the pineapple keeping the juice)
- 1 cup pineapple juice
Directions
- In a small bowl mix the water with the corn starch and soy sauce.
- Mix together until there are no lumps.
- Place 2 tsp of oil in a wok
- Mix together the pepper flakes, ginger paste and five spice.
- Sauté for a few minutes then add the pineapple juice.
- Add the brown sugar, rice vinegar and salt.
- Then mix in the tomato paste, followed by the corn starch and soy sauce mixture.
- This mixture will take about 5 minutes to thicken, empty into a bowl.
