Ingredients

  1. 2 cups butter (no substitutes), softened
  2. 2 cups sugar
  3. 2 teaspoon almond extract
  4. 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  5. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  6. ½ teaspoon baking powder
  7. ¼ teaspoon salt
  8. 1 cup sliced almonds

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until almost white, about 10-12 minutes.
  2. Beat in almond extract.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in almonds. Drop a rounded teaspoonful every 2 inches onto ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 350F/180C/Gas Mark 4 for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
  6. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.
